I wear a lot of hats.
I’m a wife who wants to love and support her husband in everything he does—even when that means he’s out of town for two weekends in a row, chasing his passion for deer hunting and proudly growing that glorious mustache of his. I cheer him on, even as I juggle the responsibilities waiting for me back home.
Meanwhile, I’m holding down the fort, trying not to drown in the mountain of dishes and laundry that somehow multiplied overnight. The kind that builds up because you worked all week, gave everything you had, and simply didn’t have the energy left to keep up with it all.
I’m also a mom—the kind who can heal boo-boos with a kiss and somehow always knows the right words to turn tears into smiles.
That is… unless your two-year-old has a full-blown meltdown because he wants a strawberry. Not just any strawberry—the ones he spotted in the fridge that are now covered in mold. So you’re left trying to reason with, distract, or survive what feels like a tiny demonic force that has temporarily taken over your child.
And then there’s the boss hat—the one that requires making hard decisions, keeping a level head when sh*t hits the fan, and somehow still making sure the people who work for you feel seen, valued, and appreciated.
Life can feel incredibly overwhelming when you’re constantly trying to balance all the hats you wear every single day.
Lord knows I have plenty of days when I want to throw one—or several—of those hats straight up in the air and just say, “F it.”
But here’s the thing…
You’re allowed to do that.
You’re allowed to take a break from one hat, or many of them.
You’re allowed to ask for help—and actually accept it when it’s offered.
You’re allowed to want things that no one else around you seems to understand.
It’s okay to let your guard down.
Even when you feel like you’re supposed to be the strong one.
Even when you think it’s your job to hold everything—and everyone—together.
So when life feels heavy and you’re convinced you can’t handle one more thing, I challenge you, girlfriend, to toss one of those hats up in the air for the day.
Just make sure you catch it…
and try again tomorrow.
